Pianola Concert

Michael Boyd; music introduced by Patrick Handscombe... A unique opportunity to hear composers Ravel, Grainger and Paderewski play their own music. Programme to include: Pianola rolls interpreted by Michael Boyd:- Darius Milhaud: Scaramouche. Percy Grainger: Molly on the Shore. Eugene Goossens: Rhythmic Dance. Francis Poulenc: LEmbarquement pour Cythère. Arnold Bax: Scherzo. Performances by means of the Duo-Art Reproducing Piano:- Maurice Ravel: Toccata. Played by the Composer. Ignace Paderewski: Caprice in G. Played by the Composer. John Ireland: Amberley Wild Brooks. Played by the Composer. Richard Strauss, arr. Grainger: Love Duet from Der Rosencavalier. Played by Percy Grainger. Gaertner, arr. Friedman: Viennese Waltz. Played by Ignaz Friedman. There will be a Q&A session at the end of the concert where you will have the opportunity to find out more about these rare and truly fascinating instruments.
